  • When it opened in 1884, the hotel had its own tracks and sidings into London?s Liverpool Street Station, from where it would bring in provisions, including sea water for the hotel?s salt-water baths. Following a 3-year refurbishment, the Great Eastern Hotel re-opened in February 2000. The result of this ?dazzling revamp? has been hailed by the press as ?the most glamorous spot in the City?. It revives the splendor of the original, but with a strong sense of modernity.
